Vidéographe is a Montréal-based artist-run centre that has been distributing and exhibiting independent video works since 1971. The website aims to make everything that animates the centre accessible: its unique catalogue, screenings, training programs, residencies, shop, creation spaces, and equipment fleet. Above all, it seeks to highlight the richness of its artist community.
We designed a structured grid-based layout that comes alive through motion. The visual language draws inspiration from the analog film development process and aspect ratios. Grain, noise, and shifting video ratios evoke the materiality of the video medium. The site becomes an active surface where all facets of the centre coexist and breathe. The navigation allows users to explore the catalogue, discover upcoming events, and access services and collaborations without getting lost in the volume of information.
